MX Sports Introduces the Ray Lang Good Neighbor Memorial Award
Morgantown,W.Va., (July 29, 2009) - At this year's Air Nautiques AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn Ranch presented by Amsoil, MX Sports will be unveiling the Ray Lang Good Neighbor Memorial Award, in honor of Ray Lang, who passed away last year after suffering severe chest trauma in a racing accident. Lang was 40 years old."I feel this is a very fitting tribute to Ray's life and it will ensure that Ray's memory will always be in the hearts and minds of our Loretta Lynn race family, said Tim Cotter, Event Director at MX Sports.
Lang was the epitome of the rank-and-file amateur motocross enthusiast who comes to Loretta's to compete and to enjoy the camaraderie of this American motocross classic. He was a vet-class rider who came to Tennessee to be part of it all, and with his generosity and enthusiasm, he made a great impression on everyone around him.
MX Sports hopes to seek out the family or persons camped at the ranch the week of the national who best epitomize good racing neighbors like Lang: kind and pleasant, helpful and respectful, enthusiastic and enjoyable.
In order to find that neighbor, MX Sports ask you to nominate someone (or a family) you feel lives up to this description, in 500 words or less, in a letter you can drop off at the MX Sports track office or by email (info@mxsports.com), no later than Friday morning at 9 a.m. That afternoon, MX Sports will name the winner of the First Annual Ray Lang Good Neighbor Memorial Award; both the winner of the award and the nominee will have electrical hook-ups reserved for them in 2010, so that they may park together and enjoy another week at the Air Nautiques AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships. They will also receive a commemorative plaque for being good neighbors.
