Having a good neighbor at a motocross race always makes the day so much better. With another family around to help look out for you while you're away from your own family, makes for a less stressful atmosphere. Broc Streit and his family do just that and so much more for whomever they are pitted next to that weekend. This is why they deserve the Good Neighbor's Award.

They always seem to go above and beyond, not only at the track but at home too, making sure their neighbor is okay. My family has seen their kindness first hand because they have been helping us out for years. But you can't have a good neighbor without being one yourself. Their kindness towards us is repaid by kindness towards them. Loretta Lynn's 2009 has been yet another example of our neighbor to neighbor appreciation. When the Streits first got to Loretta's and got stuck in a ditch, my dad was there to help. When we forgot our pitboard, they offered to let us borrow theirs. Even though both our motos were close together, they figured out a way to make it work.

When they needed water because they ran out and didn't have time to get more, we let them use ours. After every one of my dad's motos they always came over to say good job, no matter what the outcome. Even if it was the worst race ever, there was always something positive said to keep spirits up. If they cooked dinner and had some leftover they always asked if we were hungry. And even at the end of a long race day when everyone is ready to go home, we always make sure each other is packed and doesn't need any help.

Not only does the Streit family help out physically, but emotionally as well. No matter if a situation is good or bad, they always find a way to laugh about it in the end. If we have a bad race, they always have something encouraging to say, such as, "It wasn't your race, you'll get them next time!"

Hearing things like that makes it easy to change the mindset of the day. My mom always told me, treat others as you wish to be treated. And I believe the Streit family completely nailed that concept. Their kindness is endless and I hope we get to be motocross neighbors with them for years to come. I truly believe the meaning of a good neighbor is to not just have one, but to be one as well. Thank you Streit family for all you have done. It is greatly appreciated! Written by Rae Ann Niebel
