A. REGISTRATION
PROCEDURE:
1. Registration: Sunday 1-3 pm Amateurs Amsoil Arena
4-6 pm Youth Amsoil Arena
Monday 7-10 am All Amsoil
Arena
2. All riders, their mechanic and 1 parent (if the rider is under 18 years of age) must attend registration.
3. The first station is the AMA Station,
where every rider must produce a valid and current AMA card for inspection by
the AMA official. Expired AMA cards can
be renewed at this station.
4. The parent of a youth rider and the
youth rider must complete a Youth Release in full. Youth Releases are available at the AMA Station.
5. Upon confirmation of a valid AMA card
and completion of a Youth Release (if applicable), the rider, mechanic and
parent must proceed to the Class Station designated for each class. Each class will have its own Registration Technician. Riders must register with each technician
for each class they are entered in.
6. Riders must provide the last
four-digits of their frame number at registration. This applies for all classes.
7. The Registration Technician will
confirm entry into the class, and will require the rider and parent to sign a
Rider Release form and the pre-printed Rider Entry form. Please confirm that all information on the
Rider Entry form is correct, including bike brand and address.
8. The Mechanic will be required to sign
the Release Form and will be given a Mechanics Pass with a number that
coordinates with the Race/Moto number for the rider’s class. Please check the Mechanics Pass number to
ensure it is for the proper race.
9. The Rider will be given a practice
sticker for each class the rider is registered in for Monday’s practice
session. Each class will practice as a
group only once. The sticker must be
placed on the front number plate of the bike, and will be checked at the
staging area. Only bikes with proper
practice stickers will be permitted to practice.
10. If a rider is in 2 classes and the
practice sessions for those classes are run together, or the rider is in
back-to-back practice sessions, he may request to practice with a different
group for his second practice.
11. The
rider must then proceed to the Race Bib Station and obtain his/her bib
and rider packet. The Race Bib must be
worn during all motos and all bib graphics must be clearly visible. If a rider loses or destroys a bib, replacements
may be purchased from Moto Tees. Each
rider will receive one bib and one packet, even if entered in two classes. Extra bibs can be purchased after
registration at the Moto-Tee’s display.
12. Finally, the
rider must go to the Transponder Station and obtain a transponder and
instruction on proper placement and mounting. All riders must purchase/rent a
Trackside Transponder or have their own.
The purchase price at the event is $100 cash sale or $110 credit card sale;
the rental fee is $40 with a $60 refundable deposit. Riders that currently own
a transponder must register their transponder at the Transponder Station as
well. Trackside Transponders have a 2-year guarantee and will be used at the
2008 Regionals and National event. Log
onto www.mxtransponder.com
prior to the event.
13. New this year, MX Sports will be
providing live timing and scoring of all races on the internet at www.mxsports.com. Copies of lap times and results will be
provided to competitors at no charge, compliments of our great sponsor, Amsoil. Racers can obtain their complimentary lap
times from the Trackside Scoring Office.
B. ALTERNATE
PROCEDURE:
1. Alternates not entered in another class
must report to the MX Sports Front Gate office upon arrival at the Ranch to
obtain a facility permit. Alternates
who are qualified in another class can pick up their facility permit from the
Front Gate Staff.
2. All Alternates must attend rider
registration and register in each class in which they are an alternate by
completing an entry form. Only riders
listed on the Alternate Rider List may register.
3. Alternates will receive their rider
packet at registration. Once placed,
Alternates will receive their number assignment, racing bib, mechanics pass and
transponder from the MX Sports Race Track office.
4. Only the top 5 registered Alternates
will practice with their class. If an
Alternate is outside of the top 5 ranked alternates, he should return at the
end of registration to see if he has moved up into the top 5 ranking as a
result of no-show alternates. If so,
the Alternate will be issued a practice sticker. Otherwise, Alternates cannot practice.
5. Alternates will be placed based upon a
power-ranking calculated by the number of riders at the regional level, i.e.,
alternates from regionals with the most riders will be given priority placement
(See, Supplemental Rules 18 & 19).
In other words, a withdrawn rider will not necessarily be replaced by an
alternate from the same regional as the withdrawn rider.
6. Alternates will not be placed until
AFTER the close of registration on Monday.
An Alternate List will be posted on the Posting Board adjacent to the MX
Sports Race Track office. As Alternates
are placed, their names will be added to the list. Alternates should monitor this posted list and report to the MX
Sports Race Track office immediately upon placement on the list.
7. Once a class is full, no further
Alternates can be placed unless a seeded rider withdraws from the program prior
to the start of the first moto of that class.
This means that even if a gate is empty on the starting line of the
first moto, we still cannot place an Alternate in that position. Once a rider earns a gate position, it is
his gate, and it cannot be given to an Alternate without the rider’s consent,
even if the rider fails to race the first moto. A rider may in fact miss the first moto but race the 2nd
and 3rd motos. After the
first moto of a class is run, no Alternates can be placed in that class. However, we strongly urge seeded riders to
withdraw if there are not able to race any of their motos in a class. Riders that can be replaced with an
Alternate will receive a refund of their race entry fee.
8. Riders not selected as an Alternate
will be refunded their race entry fee.
Camping fees will not be refunded if you attended the event. Refunds will be processed after the event
and mailed by September 15th.
No refunds will be issued at the event.
C. STAGING/STARTING
AREA PROCEDURE:
1.
The Staging Area is located behind the Kawasaki Pits. This is a “No Smoking” area. Please dispose of trash properly, using the
garbage cans provided.
2.
Please keep the center aisle open and clear. No bicycles, golf carts or pit bikes
permitted
in the staging lanes.
3.
Staging spots will be numbered 1 through 42, so that you can
go directly to your spot
when it’s time for your class to
stage. Please be prepared to stage 2
motos before your race.
4.
Riders must wear proper race attire, including but not
limited to: long sleeve jersey, bib and transponder. Bib graphics may not be covered.
Riders must have their transponders properly mounted on their boot.
5.
Number plates must be clean and clearly visible. A+ stickers are permitted on all plates.
6. First moto gate picks will be
determined by drawing spoons. Only
riders may draw spoons. Riders may not
trade or switch spoons. Riders must
have their bikes with them in order to draw spoons.
7. Second and third moto gate selections
will be determined by the previous moto finish, not the overall standings.
8. Riders should accompany their bikes to
the gate. Once a rider pulls into a
gate slot, the rider will not be permitted to move to another gate.
9. Bikes must be positioned straight and
in the center of the gate. The back
tire cannot be on top of the white backstop.
10. Only the rider’s designated mechanic may
accompany the rider to the gate.
Mechanics must have their Mechanic’s Pass clearly visible. No other persons are permitted on the
starting line. Sponsors may only visit
with riders in staging, but not on the starting line.
11. No one is permitted in front of the
starting gate.
12. The area between the starting gate and
the white backstop may be groomed with hands and feet only - tools may not be
used. Mechanics may not use golf shoes
or cleats in this area. No dirt, water
or other material may be added to the area between the starting gate and the white
backstop.
13. Starting blocks are permitted, and will be supplied by MX Sports. Riders may not use their own blocks. Blocks may not be used to groom the area behind the gate. The mechanic is responsible for removing a starting block used by their rider.
14. Number plate colors are as follows:
Class Background Numbers
“A” white black
“B” yellow black
“C” black white
All others white black
15. All classes will be given a “Site Lap” prior to the start of each moto. The purpose of this lap is for the rider to inspect the course – not to practice or race. Riders may not leave the gate on the Site Lap until the official has completely passed them indicating that it is clear to proceed. Riders may not stop on the track or re-ride a section during the site lap. The site lap is optional. Upon completion of the site lap the riders must return to their previously chosen gate, and clean their number plates if necessary. Tools may be used to scrape mud from bikes.
16. The Start Procedure is as follows:
● 2
Card will be held for 10 seconds
● 1
Card will be held for 10 seconds
● 1
Card will be turned sideways
● Gate will drop between 2
and 5 seconds
17. A rider may request a 2-minute grace
period for minor repairs at any time prior to or during display of the 2
Card by holding up his hand. Once the 1
Card is displayed, no additional time will be given. Only one grace period will be given per moto. Grace periods will not be given to clean
equipment.
18. Mechanics
must step behind the backstop at the 1 Card.
19. Riders will
be penalized one lap for taking out the starting gate.
20. Rented transponders must be returned to
the Trackside Scoring Office after the rider’s final moto.
D. RACE
PROCEDURE:
1. Transponder scoring will be the
official scoring method, with hand scoring back-up. However, lap times are not official results. Official results will be posted on the
Results Posting Board.
2. If a rider is injured in practice or is unable to race their first moto for any reason, please notify MX Sports of your withdrawal so that an Alternate can be placed. A withdrawn rider will receive a $75 rider entry refund if we are able to replace the rider with an Alternate. This only applies prior to the first moto. Alternates cannot be placed after the first moto.
3. All 50cc classes, the Girls (9-13) class, and “C” classes will run 15-minute motos. All other classes will run 20-minute motos.
4. If a rider is forced off the track or leaves the course for any reason, he must re-enter the track at the safest point without gaining an advantage. A rider is not required to re-enter where he left the track.
5. Riders will be given a green flag at
the completion of lap one to designate that the race is on. If a red flag is given, riders must return
to their original gate position to await further instruction.
6. The half-way point in each moto will be
signaled at the finish by crossed white and green flags.
7. The Caution (Yellow) Flag designates a downed rider or other situation to raise caution. A rider may pass and jump on the caution flag. The Red Cross Flag designates an injured rider and/or medics on the track. Riders must hold their position and cannot jump on the red cross flag. This includes the area of the track known as the Ten Commandments. (Please note: This rule differs from the AMA Amateur Rule Book and applies only to the AMA Amateur Nationals at Loretta Lynn’s.)
8. A rider must complete at least one-half
the laps of the leader and take the checkered flag in order to be
scored. Otherwise, the rider will be
considered a DNF. A “DNF” (did not
finish) results in moto points equal to the total number of riders in the
class. A “DNS” (did not stage) results
in moto points equal to the total number of riders in the class, plus 30
points.
9. The top 10 finishers in all classes
must stop for impounding immediately after the finish of each moto. Frame numbers will be checked. Bikes will be held at impound until released
by the Referee.
10. The top 3 finishers in each moto should
proceed directly to the podium for interviews and the award of Moto Medals. The top 3 overall class finishers should
proceed to the podium upon completion of the final moto.
11. Class
awards will be given to the top 10 riders in each class Saturday evening at the
Amsoil Arena. Riders should wear their
Moto Medals to the Awards Ceremony.
E. MECHANICS
AREA PROCEDURE:
1.
The Mechanics Area is located to the right of the starting
line behind the starting line billboard.
Only properly credentialed mechanics may enter the mechanics area.
2.
After the start, mechanics must proceed directly to the
Mechanic’s Area. Only the mechanic with
the proper credential will be permitted in the mechanic’s area.
3.
A rider may register more than one mechanic, but only one
mechanic pass will be issued, and only one mechanic per rider will be permitted
per moto. All mechanics must register
with the rider at Rider Registration.
4.
Mechanics passes may not be switched or transferred from one
person to another, unless that person is a properly registered mechanic for
that rider.
5.
Riders are responsible for the conduct of their mechanics
and may be subject to penalty for inappropriate conduct by their mechanic.
6. Mechanics must stay behind the
mechanics area fence and may not enter the track.
7. Riders
requiring mechanical assistance must pull into the mechanics area entrance in
order to receive assistance. Riders
must then re-enter the track at the opposite end of the mechanics area. Riders will be responsible for safe re-entry
onto the track. Riders interfering with
other riders upon re-entry are subject to penalty.
8. Mechanics
must be at least 18 years of age.
F. INFIELD PROCEDURE:
1.
The track infield is restricted. Only authorized track personnel, and credentialed press and
sponsors may access the infield.
2.
Riders and their mechanics may inspect the track prior to
Monday’s practice and in the evenings after the track maintenance crew has
completed track preparations. No one is
permitted on the track while the track maintenance crew is working.
3.
Press must obtain infield credentials from the MX Sports
race track office prior to entering the infield. Only industry-related press and press with proper identification
will be permitted access.
4.
Event sponsors may obtain infield credentials from the MX
Sports race track office. Business
identification will be required.
5.
Infield passes will be issued Monday at 3 pm. However, infield passes are not valid until
racing begins on Tuesday, as the infield is closed during practice.
6.
Signaling riders, cheering or providing mechanical
assistance is prohibited by press or event sponsors on the infield. Crossing the track is forbidden.
7.
MX Sports staff may assist fallen or stranded riders. For the 50cc PW Class, event sponsors and
OEM personnel may assist fallen or stranded riders.
G. BURNOUT
PROCEDURE:
1. The burnout
area is located in Area 3 near the stables.
2. Only
registered racers and their race bikes are permitted to use the burnout
area. No pit bikes, golf carts or other
vehicles are permitted.
3. Proper
protective equipment must be worn at all times in the burnout area.
4. The burnout area is open: Monday from 8:30 am – 7 pm
5. Riders are
responsible for their own safety in the Burnout Area.
