2010 SUPPLEMENTAL RULES

RICKY CARMICHAEL DAYTONA AMATEUR SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

A. RIDER ELIGIBILITY AND CLASSIFICATION

  1. The following riders may enter the A/Pro Sport class only:  Pro licensed riders who did not qualify for the night program in an AMA Supercross in the current year.

  2. Pro licensed riders qualifying for the night program in an AMA Supercross in the current year are not eligible to participate in the program in any class.

  3. Riders who placed in the top 5 overall in a "B" class at the previous Loretta Lynn National Motocross and who are 16 years of age or older as of January 1, 2010, are not eligible to compete in a "B" division.

  4. Riders who have ever been classified as a Pro, Pro Am, or A rider in a non-youth class, are not eligible for any "B" or "C" division.

  5. A rider may not participate in a "C" class if:

a. The rider is receiving or has ever received any type of OEM factory support in any class;

b. The rider earned a Rider Performance Value (RPV) of 15.0 or higher the previous advancement year (Nov. 1, 2008 - Oct. 31, 2009) in any class, including youth divisions; or

c. The rider has raced any C or youth division at the age of 12 years or older prior to January 1, 2008 and had an RPV or calculated RPV of 11.0 or higher the previous advancement year (Nov. 1, 2008 - Oct. 31, 2009) in 6 or more events; or

B. MACHINE ELIGIBILITY AND CLASSIFICATION

  1. 2011 model machines are NOT eligible in any class.

  2. 50cc (4-6) AMA Stock 1 Class:

a. The following cannot be changed or modified: Internal engine components, electronics, frame, carburetor, air box, swing arm, rim size, wheel hubs and exhaust system. Cylinder re-plating is allowed but must retain the original manufacturer's bore.  Changes to carburetor jetting are allowed. Clutch plates, pistons and piston rings may be accessory items so long as they maintain the stock shape, design and material of the OEM parts. High compression pistons are not allowed. All other internal engine components must be stock OEM parts. Material may be added to the existing frame for strength, including welding. OEM front and rear suspension can be altered with internal modifications only. Shock linkage and suspension spring rates may be changed to any commercially available part. Any items not listed above may be changed or modified. Violations of the stock class rules as determined by the protest process or by the referee of the event will result in a disqualification from the class, or at the Qualifier level, assignment to the appropriate class. A second violation will result in a disqualification from the class and a suspension from AMA competition for one year. However, if a violation is deemed by the referee to be cosmetic in nature, with no performance advantage or willful misconduct involved, he may issue a warning or fine in lieu of disqualification.

b. In addition, the following apply:

i. Parts/components that may be replaced or added include but are not limited to: fuel filters, air filters, gas line, handlebars, crossbar pads, non-metal open-ended hand- guards, serrated foot pegs, lower fork leg protectors, spokes and nipples, decals, spark plugs, spark plug caps, sprockets, handlebar mounts, seat covers, triple clamps.

ii. Gaskets, backfire screens, O-rings or other components may NOT be removed.  Port clean-up is NOT permitted.

iii. Changes or modifications to the EFI Throttle Body Assembly are NOT permitted; Aftermarket ECU units are NOT permitted; Programming or mapping changes to the stock OEM unit are permitted.

iv. Aftermarket front fork holeshot devices and metal hand guards are NOT permitted.

v. The lower/bottom triple clamp may NOT be changed.

vi. Rims can be replaced with OEM or aftermarket rims of the same size and width.


C. REGISTRATION
  1. Proof of age must be available upon request by MX Sports at any time.

  2. For youth classes, age is based on the rider's age on January 1, 2010.  For all other classes, age is based on the rider's actual age as of the day of the event.

  3. All riders under the age of 18 years must have a parent present or a duly notarized parental consent form, as required by the AMA Rules and Regulations in order to participate.

  4. Riders may enter a total of three (3) classes.

  5. Riders must declare their race numbers upon registration. In the event of duplicate numbers in the same class, numbers will be assigned on a first-come basis.

  6. Minor Release and Waiver of Liability forms must be completed by minor participants and their parent/legal guardian at the event upon Rider Check-in/Registration.
D. RACE FORMAT

  1. The race format will consist of a series of Heat races, Semi Finals and one Main event per class.

  2. The Main event will be limited to 24 riders.

  3. The number of heat races will be determined based on the number of entries in the class.

  4. All riders will be able to participate in a minimum of two competitive events per class.
E. ON TRACK REGULATIONS

  1. Only the rider and one mechanic will be allowed to the starting line.

  2. Once the race has started the mechanic may go to the designated Signal Area only. If a mechanic is found to be outside the designated area he/she will lose their privilege and will not be allowed to return.

  3. If a rider goes off the track he must re-enter at the safest location without gaining an advantage. Riders may gain an advantage without gaining a position.

  4. Outside assistance is prohibited. If a rider needs to make repairs to their machine they may do so on the side of the track but without assistance. Riders can receive assistance in the Signal Area.

  5. Riding backwards on the track is prohibited unless designated by an official.

  6. A motorcycle that returns to the paddock during the race will not be permitted to return to the competition.

  7. Motorcycles may be ridden to/from the paddock and the starting area only. Riding in unauthorized areas is grounds for disqualification.

  8. In the event a machine becomes disabled before reaching the finish line, the race is over for that rider and the rider may not complete the lap.
F. OPERATIONAL FLAGS

  1. Green Flag: Indicates the start of the race or the race is on.

  2. White Flag: Indicates one lap remaining in the race.

  3. Checkered Flag: Indicates the race is over.

    a. Should a rider be given the checkered flag ahead of or with the actual winner, the rider will be scored as having completed the race in the position he was running at that time.

    b. Should the checkered flag be displayed later than the official distance, the finishing order will be decided based on the official distance.

  4. Yellow Flag: Indicates a problem ahead. Riders must proceed with caution.  There is NO PASSING and NO JUMPING between the flag and the incident.   Racing may resume once the incident has been passed.  (This rule differs from the Loretta Lynn Amateur National rule.)

  5. Red Cross Flag: Indicates an injured rider and/or medical personnel on the course.  Riders must proceed with extreme caution and are required to roll each obstacle.  There is NO PASSING and NO JUMPING between the flag and the incident. Racing may resume once the incident has been passed.

  6. Black Flag: Indicates a problem with a particular rider.  Riders given the black flag must pull off the track immediately and proceed directly to the Signal Area to await further instruction. Riders who fail to comply will be disqualified.

  7. Red Flag: Indicates the race has been stopped.  Riders must return immediately to the starting area and await further instruction.  Machines may not return to the paddock. Machines returning to the paddock will not be able to rejoin the race. All repairs must be made within the starting area.

  8. Restart Procedure:  In the event that there is a red flag the following procedure will be used:

    a. If displayed within the first 2 laps, there will be a complete restart. Riders must return to their original starting gate and prepare for a restart.

    b. If displayed after 60% of the race is completed, the race will be considered over and riders will be scored based on their position at the time of the red flag.

    c.  A rider who fails to make the original start of the race will not be permitted to participate in a restart.

G. PROTEST FEES AND PROCEDURES
  1. The following protest fees shall apply:

    a. Visual Protests: $100 per item or component

    b. Technical Protests: $100 per item or component

    c. Plus the following if applicable:

    i. Teardown Fees: $200 2-Stroke/$500 4-Stroke

    ii. Required Engine Removal: $100

    iii. Fuel Test Deposit: $325

    d. Administrative Protests: $100 per incident

  2. In the event of a technical protest involving a teardown or removal of the engine from the frame, the inspection shall occur after the final moto involving the protested machine. Pending inspection, the machine will be impounded between motos and/or the engine sealed, with the exception that minor repairs and maintenance may be made under MX Sports' supervision.

  3. The claiming rule value is two times the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP).
